This career involves preparing clear, complete, and accurate plans and detailed drawings for use in the building and manufacturing industry. Workers in this field design and develop mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. Common software that participants may be trained in include Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley Navigator, PTC Pro/ENGINEER Mechanica, Siemens Solid Edge, etc
